After major abdominal surgery to remove years of scar tissue from cancer, I decided to turn my recovery week into something both healing and joyful — a little Boulder Foodie Tour to celebrate progress, friendship, and good food that loves me back.
I chose to recover at the St Julien Hotel & Spa, a peaceful space where I could focus on rest, nutrition, and gratitude. Instead of sitting in silence or counting the hours between medications, I wanted to fill my week with connection — meals that were safe for my long list of allergies, shared laughter, and conversations that reminded me how good life still tastes.
Each stop on this mini foodie tour reflects something meaningful — not just recovery, but community.
Cozobi Fonda Fine with my friend Ivey, who lovingly stayed by my side this week and helped me navigate those early post-op days with grace and humor.
Stella’s Cucina, where I’ll be spoiled by my cousin Simone and get to share a meal with my friend Nhi in his gorgeous restaurant.
Spruce Farm & Fish with my amazing dog sitters, who’ve helped keep everything running smoothly while I focus on healing.
Frasca Food & Wine, a long-awaited dinner with my cousin — a Michelin-level experience that feels like a milestone all its own.
Bramble & Hare with Jade, because no Boulder visit is complete without something creative and farm-inspired.
This isn’t just about food. It’s about turning a hard season into something beautiful. About finding joy in safe bites, slow moments, and good company. About remembering that healing happens in many forms — sometimes in a hospital bed, and sometimes at a candlelit table with people who love you.
The posts that follow will share each stop in more detail — the food, the atmosphere, the care, and the gratitude. Boulder’s been the perfect backdrop for this season of healing and rediscovery, and I can’t wait to take you along for the journey.
